It’s been a little over a year since the New York Giants signed Daniel Jones to a four-year $160 million deal.
They paid the money for him but didn’t get the return on investment during the 2023 season. He only played in six games due to injury and finished the season with 909 yards through the air, two touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Despite that, Giants general manager Joe Schoen doesn’t regret signing Jones to that deal.
“I’m still confident in Daniel, the way he’s wired, what he showed us in 2022,” Schoen said, via ProFootballTalk. “I’ve still got a lot of confidence in Daniel.”
Jones is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Giants this season unless they draft someone who beats him out during training camp. Jones had had a couple of really sound seasons and a few other seasons of mixed results.
As a rookie, he threw for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns before he got his long-term contract after the 2022 season when he threw for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns.
If he doesn’t have a big bounce-back year in 2024, the Giants could look to move on from him after the season.
