Why this may be Jalin Hyatt’s last chance to prove he belongs with the Giants | New York Post
After a sluggish and largely disappointing rookie season for Jalin Hyatt, it was trendy to anoint 2024 as a critical one. The skinny wide receiver did little in Year 1 to justify the Giants’ belief that they acquired a steal on the second day of the 2023 NFL Draft when they traded their third-round pick (No. 89 overall) and a fourth-round pick (No. 128) to move up in the third round to No. 73 to get Hyatt, who was coming off a sensational season at Tennessee with a school-record 15 touchdown receptions, including five in one game against Alabama — another school record.
Those exploits feel as if they happened a long, long time ago, as does the verbiage from general manager Joe Schoen after he made the deal for Hyatt: “It was a good player that we liked that was kind of sticking out on our board. He ran 4.3 and some change, and you could feel his speed on film. I mean, that’s legit.’’
25 Questions in 25 Days: What to expect from Russell Wilson | Giants.com
“His knowledge of the game has shown already,” Slayton said. “Obviously, he has amazing talent with the ball. Accuracy, great touch on the deep balls. I don’t really know that he’s missed more than one or two deep balls this whole camp. He is really accurate, really smart. He’s helped keep us in good plays throughout the whole camp. So, his impact has been felt for sure.”
That sentiment is shared by other skill players. “Even the first time we threw, me and Slay were both like, this is actually better than we expected,” wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson said. “And so, we were ecstatic about it and couldn’t be more happy that he’s our quarterback.”

The Giants finished 13th (70.3) overall in the rankings, which breaks down to 13th (28.8) on offense and 17th (41.5) on defense.
The overall ranking was a huge improvement from the 2023 season, in which the Giants ranked 26th (84.4).
Giants’ Theo Johnson addresses ‘unfinished business’ with Abdul Carter | USAToday.com
Johnson, not one to shy away from a challenge, welcomed Carter to the locker room and then picked up right where they had left off.
“It’s just two high-level competitors going in every day. We both took practice very seriously, and we were both alpha dogs on opposite sides of the ball, so things can get tense; can get heated,” Johnson said on The Giants Huddle Podcast. “But at the end of the day, we’re both competitors (and) we both respect each other as competitors. We pushed each other.”
