Wan’Dale Robinson made it clear this spring that he wasn’t happy with his role last season when he was fed the 12th most targets in the league (140) but ranked last among wide receivers with a 7.5 yards per catch average. There were no indications of any changes to Robinson’s usage in the spring. He was still mostly thrown a steady diet of screens and dump-offs despite Nabers’ absence opening more opportunities. Robinson is playing in the final year of his rookie contract. The Giants will need to determine if Robinson is worthy of a contract like the four-year, $53 million extension Buffalo’s slot receiver Khalil Shakir signed this offseason or if they could replace his production with a mid-round draft pick next year.

3. Edge Abdul Carter, New York Giants. Initial Role: Situational Pass-Rusher

After racking up 12 sacks during his first year as a full-time edge-rusher last season, there’s little to no doubt about Carter’s pass-rush ability. However, he could use some time to develop against the run, and Kayvon Thibodeaux is still on the Giants’ roster. So, the 2022 first-rounder will likely be the starter early on to help ease the 2025 first-rounder along.

While these moves may have drawn the most buzz over the last few months, one that has seemingly slipped through the cracks was the addition of defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris. Listening to defensive line coach Andre Patterson talk during minicamp, the veteran coach clearly thinks we have yet to see the best from the veteran defensive lineman.

“There’s a lot of growth left in him,” Patterson told the media during minicamp. “And he’s hungry and he comes out every day to get better. So, I’m really excited about where he could go. … Roy has a bunch of upside. I mean, he has not even come close to reaching his potential.”

Former Giants executive Tim Rooney died on Tuesday at age 84 after a short battle with cancer. He joined the Giants in 1985 as director of pro personnel and served in that role until 1999. He helped New York to Super Bowl wins in 1986 and 1990 alongside legendary coach Bill Parcells.

“He was a great guy,” said Parcells. “When you’re a head coach, you need someone to tell you the truth. Tim was our pro personnel guy, and that was his job. We had daily interaction every day talking about the roster. We had a lot of talks and became close. That enhanced our relationship. He understood me, and I understood him.”
