Other Giant observations

Evan Neal is getting a new position — and one final shot to salvage his Giants career | New York Post

It is happening, and the Giants hope this time around, massive Evan Neal can finally fulfill some of those mammoth expectations and thrive in a new position on the offensive line.

Neal this spring will attempt to resuscitate his failing NFL career with a move to guard. And it makes sense that, if he adapts and shows he can handle the mental and physical adjustments inherent with getting kicked to the interior of the line, a starting spot at right guard could be his for the taking.

Joe Schoen: Jaxson Dart has a lot to learn, sitting will be beneficial | Pro Football Talk

During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Schoen noted that the two men were part of a similar plan when they were in Buffalo and Josh Allen was a rookie who started the year behind Nathan Peterman. A blowout loss in the opener led the Bills to turn to Allen the next weekend, but Schoen said that the situations aren’t totally analogous because of who the Giants have on their roster.

“That plan didn’t go as well, but we didn’t have a Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston in the room,” Schoen said. “So again, Jaxson’s going to come in, he’s got to learn the offense, there’s a lot to learn, these NFL offenses are hard to grasp and pick up and then be able to go out and execute, so the ability for him to learn and sit behind two consummate pros already will be beneficial for him.”

2025 NFL draft: Ranking the 100 best picks, steals, fits | ESPN.com

The list is based on value (where a player was drafted vs. where he was ranked predraft), scheme fit, how the selection addressed a need, what the prospect brings on the field and whether additional assets were gained or lost in draft-day trades to acquire him.

8. Abdul Carter, Edge, New York Giants (Pick 1-3). My final overall ranking: No. 1

Having my top-ranked player “fall” to No. 3 actually represents great value, but Carter is also a great fit in a Giants defense that has established stars in defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II and edge rusher Brian Burns. Carter doesn’t have to carry the defense right away and can be used the way the Cowboys used Micah Parsons as a rookie. He’ll play some linebacker, rush the passer and be a defensive chess piece.

Miller ranked QB Jaxson Dart at 36 and OL Marcus Mbow, at 85.

2025 NFL draft grades: Giants nearly top the league in GPA

Winners and Losers from Giants’ 2025 Draft | SI.com

Winner: GM Joe Schoen. Fans have criticized fourth-year general manager Joe Schoen throughout his tenure, and plenty of it has been justified. Some of his decisions indicated a lack of direction, but that was not the case last week.

What matters is that the GM, while facing immense pressure, completed multiple items on his offseason agenda. He will consequently receive profuse praise until the start of next season.

NFL Draft grades: An analytical look at the biggest winners and losers | The Athletic

Winners: New York Giants. As mentioned above, owning more valuable picks is a sure-fire way to produce the best draft results, and the Giants didn’t disappoint. What’s interesting here is that they lost the equivalent of a fringe first-round pick by trading back into the first round for quarterback Jaxson Dart. He was a reach from a consensus standpoint, but similarly to Ward, the upside of drafting a potential QB1 is immense.

Biggest reaches from every round of the 2025 NFL Draft | PFF

No. 25: New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss (Big Board Rank: 131). While highly productive (91.9 PFF passing grade in 2024), Dart is very raw, as the system he played in at Ole Miss doesn’t translate very well to the NFL. Luckily for Dart, he doesn’t need to start right away after the Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason.

NFL Draft 2025: Each team’s most questionable pick, including Shedeur Sanders, Tyler Shough | CBSSports.com
Giants: RB Cam Skattebo, Arizona State (Round 4, pick 105)

Skattebo is good in short-yardage situations because his determination will carry him across the threshold but there are questions about his top-end speed. Can he be more than a role player? Given that there were some really talented running backs still on the board, I would have gone in another direction. Overall, I thought New York had a good draft.

Travis Hunter is among the favorites to win offensive, and defensive, rookie of the year | Pro Football Talk

Defensively, Hunter’s +800 odds are second only to Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter, who is at +250.On the offensive side, Hunter has +750 odds, behind only Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty (+200) and Titans quarterback Cam Ward (+230).
