Giants humbled at hands of dominant Eagles

With just one win since Week 7, the New York Giants didn’t necessarily need to be humbled but that’s precisely what happened on Sunday afternoon.

The Philadelphia Eagles came to East Rutherford and completely humiliated the Giants in Week 14, defeating them by a score of 48-22 in front of the hometown crowd.

“When you’re winning, it’s fine. When you’re losing, it’s humbling. You lose like this, you own it. You don’t make any excuses,” head coach Brian Daboll told reporters after the game. “I think any time you lose in this league, you have to be resilient. Particularly, the last few weeks, we’ve lost some games. (We) haven’t had the results we want. So, again, you don’t make any excuses. You own it, and everything starts with me.

“There’s really no secret thing to just flip it right away. The guys are doing what we’re asking them to do. We just got to do a little bit better, all of us.”

The Giants will have to turn the page quickly with an important game coming up against the Washington Commanders. But for now, they’re left licking their wounds.

“I mean we got our (expletive) whipped. Point blank,” running back Saquon Barkley said. “But you can find beauty in everything. I really believe in that, and we’ve got to double down. We’ve got to come in, got to prep better, got to practice better. Everything we want is still in front of us. So, we’ve got a big one next week.”

“Sometimes, you get your (expletive) beat. That’s as simple as it is,” safety Julian Love said. “But we can’t let this fester really. We got to go in tomorrow, make corrections. And then our morale has to stay high because it’s been high all year. That’s what has brought close games home for us. So, that’s kind of the story. That’s the message: We got to correct this. It sucks. You’re going to feel a little bit hurt, but you got to bounce back because we got important stuff in front of us still.”

If the Giants don’t bounce back and this recent tumble continues in Week 15, their 6-1 start will be for nothing and their playoff hopes will be vanquished. It will just be the latest disaster in East Rutherford.
