NEW YORK GIANTS FIRE ASSISTANT DEFENSIVE LINE COACH…
The New York Giants fired Assistant Defensive Line Coach Bryan Cox sometime last week without announcing it. Cox was in that position with the Giants since 2022 after he had been out of football for five years. Before that he had been the defensive line coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-2013) and Atlanta Falcons (2014-2016).
When asked about Cox on Tuesday, Interim Head Coach Mike Kafka said, “I’m not going to get into the details of what happened with B. Cox, just the same as I’m not going to get into the details of how we handle our players. Those are tough decisions, but I’m going to keep those in-house just out of respect for everybody. But, I mean, the one thing I will say is being in this job for the last few weeks, having to make some decisions and some of them have been very public. Many of them haven’t been. I think what I’ve learned is how can we continue to put this team in the best position to win games. And that’s what I’m evaluating. So, everything top to bottom, taking the time to do that, being very detailed, I would say just having a good pulse of what this team needs and understanding how I want to get that done and just having a clear message there. So, that’s what we thought was best for the team. That’s what I thought was best for the team. So, we went with it.”
TWO SET TO RETURN FROM INJURED RESERVE…
The Giants have opened up the practice window for ILB Darius Muasau and CB Art Green. Barring any setbacks, both should return to the 53-man roster as soon as this weekend. Muasau and Green were placed on Injured Reserve in early November; Muasau with an ankle injury and Green with a hamstring injury.
PRACTICE SQUAD MOVES…
Last week, the Giants waived OLB Tomon Fox from the 53-man roster and re-signed him to the Practice Squad. On Monday, the Giants re-signed DL Casey Rogers to the Practice Squad. Rogers had originally been signed by the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent most of his rookie season on the Practice Squad and was cut in May 2025. The Buffalo Bills claimed him off of waivers and then cut him in late August.
Last week, the Green Bay Packers signed DL Jordon Riley to their 53-man roster from the Giants’ Practice Squad. Riley was drafted by the Giants in the 7th round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He was the third player to be signed off of the Giants’ Practice Squad this year, joining WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey (signed by Denver Broncos) and DL Elijah Garcia (signed by Atlanta Falcons).
