In what amounts to zero surprise for readers of this NY Giants blog, The only thing that was at all surprising is that it took this long.
I’m not wasting anyone’s time explaining why Daboll deserved this outcome. You can read Sunday’s post where we called for Daboll to be fired before they left Chicago.
Now we move on to new interim HC Mike Kafka. It’s a free option. I’d like Kafka to fire DC Shane Bowen asap. Unrealistic. But that’s where I stand.
Regular blog supporter Andy L has consistently called for the Giants to jettison from the “3 Stooges.” So who are Moe Larry and Curly? None other than Daboll, Schoen and owner John Mara. Andy L is not happy that Schoen has emerged as essentially protected post-Daboll. Worse, Mara has given Schoen carte blanche in beginning the new Head Coach search. Mara on Schoen:
“We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development,” said Mara.
Schoen’s going nowhere. “As you have outlined Andrew, therein lies the problem. Our owner is more incompetent than either Schoen or Daboll,” said Andy L.
I tend to be a little bit more forgiving of Schoen than the other Andy. No, I don’t think Schoen deserves to be GM. I do believe he’s had two very good drafts and that’s why he’ll survive. But he’s made too many mistakes to be given the right of way.
