After spending the last three seasons with the team, the New York Giants could look to trade outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux. According to a report, the source believes the Giants may be willing to send Thibodeaux as he is already entering his contract year after the 2025 season. Originally selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Oregon product came into the league with plenty of promise, especially with his length he has as an edge rusher. However, it will become difficult for the linebacker, who is already coming off one of his worst campaigns in football, suffering a wrist injury that required surgery, but came back for a few games before the disastrous season came to an end.
After drafting Abdul Carter in this year’s NFL Draft to help solidify the unit between Thibodeaux and Brian Burns, the former Duck could find a new home before the 2025 regular season begins. There’s not a lot of room for him to grow in a system that will probably lean on Carter as the possible starter going forward and sticking with Burns to provide a veteran presence in that edge rushing department. Perhaps, they keep Thibodeaux until he becomes a free agent in 2027, but why wait and lose on possible draft capital that the Giants could garner? They wouldn’t want to run the risk of losing the edge rusher to another injury or potentially pay him either way if he’s not going to start for New York, so it might be best to send him to these four possible suitors.

Potential Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
Head Coach Jim Harbaugh wants an old-school physical defense, but after just signing Da’Shawn Hand to improve the trenches in some type of way, it doesn’t seem to be the case. They must find a reliable replacement since they moved on from veteran Joey Bosa this offseason. It wasn’t the only loss, as Poona Ford and Morgan Fox were two crucial departures for this defense. Thibodeaux has the versatility to improve the pass-rushing unit opposite Khalil Mack.
Baltimore Ravens
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens haven’t had the same defense since 2023, and they were closer to a Super Bowl appearance than you think. Since Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh are entering their contract years, they could only realistically re-sign at least one due to cap space. Between Trenton Simpson and David Ojabo, the Ravens aren’t going far as long as these two are a part of the roster. Perhaps, they could get Thibodeaux to join a winning team to improve at getting after the quarterback.
Carolina Panthers
After two offseasons of building a powerful offense for Bryce Young, the Carolina Panthers are adding solid contributors to improve the defense. After losing Jadeveon Clowney this offseason, they must find a powerful replacement. Josey Jewell and DJ Wonnum won’t single-handedly bring pressure to the opposing offenses and could use a boost like Thibodeaux.
New Orleans Saints
Despite not having an overpowering offense this upcoming season, they must at least give themselves a fighting chance defensively. The team lost Willie Gay, and while Demario Davis and Pete Werner are solid options at the unit, they could use the boost to upgrade over Carl Granderson. Thibodeaux doesn’t need to start to make an impact and could excel in winning a starting role in this Saints defense.
