Breaking: Giants Could Trade Former Third Rounder During NFL Draft

April 24, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

giants trade jalin hyatt

The New York Giants will likely trade former third-round wide receiver Jalin Hyatt to kick off the NFL Draft this offseason. According to several reports, many believe Hyatt is on the trade block along with Evan Neal and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the team could be looking for draft capital in return for their services. Hyatt is one of the hottest trade candidates on Adam Schefter’s list that could garner a lot of interest from teams. Originally selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee product has a contract that looks expendable as he’s yet to make an impact with the New York Giants since arriving in the organization.

Hyatt may not know what his potential is. It might be better for the Giants to send him to a new team that finally realizes his potential, even though new quarterback Russell Wilson gave him high praise. After signing Wilson, it looks like the Giants are trying to become postseason contenders this 2025 season, and that might not fit into what Hyatt is looking for since he’s yet to prove what type of value he could bring to a team. This doesn’t mean he shouldn’t sign with a contender, but new scenery might benefit him.

Hyatt was the subject of trade rumors last year, and it looks like the wide receiver could leave during the NFL Draft. After frustrations before about playing time, these three teams could put him in the spotlight to thrive in the aerial attack.

Next Possible Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is still the best wide receiver on the Chargers’ depth chart. Despite signing veteran Mike Williams, the wide receiver is way past his prime to make any impact on the field. It would be surprising if he records more than 1,000 receiving yards in one season. Meanwhile, many should anticipate the Chargers to cut Quentin Johnston if he doesn’t improve this year, so they’re left without any proven wideouts for quarterback Justin Herbert, who thrives throwing the football to help the team win ball games.

The team signing Tyler Conklin won’t single-handedly carry this offense, and it will take more than just him to bring this roster back to life. Hyatt is another unproven talent, but he has a lot of upside to offer and complements McConkey. Both have the same characteristics and could be a speedy duo in the slant route attack.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints are at risk of losing Chris Olave after already having one of the most chaotic offseasons. It will get worse if general manager Mickey Loomis doesn’t completely rebuild this team. He has to swallow his pride if they want to have a winning roster again, and that will unfortunately come at a disadvantage for head coach Kellen Moore, who’s entering his first year with the team. Loomis must let Moore do his job without limitations, as he helped the Eagles to the Super Bowl.

Rashid Shaheed and veteran Brandin Cooks would be the lone playmakers if Olave leaves. Hyatt has some similar upside to Olave and could be a capable replacement.

Kansas City Chiefs

The new dilemma in Kansas City will continue into the 2025 season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is hoping to have a better season this year after being average to his standards last year. If Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice can’t stay out of trouble, it could spell terrible news for this pass attack. With that, they should add Hyatt in case they lose either one of them to their legal issues off the field.
