After losing Victor Dimukeje to a brutal injury, the New York Giants could target future Hall of Famer Von Miller as a temporary replacement. According to a report, the Giants will lose the former 2021 draft pick even though there’s a chance that he may return healthy in time for the postseason. However, it doesn’t mean the team shouldn’t target another linebacker to salvage their unit. Even though they have three starting edge rushers in the 2025 first-round pick Abdul Carter, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Other than Burns, the Giants are getting younger, and Thibodeaux has reportedly been on the trade block. If the Giants decide to move on from him, the Von Miller signing would just make perfect sense to be a part of this team to bolster the defensive experience. Originally selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the former Texas A&M product is an eight-time Pro Bowler, and in 2023, he had the most career sacks of any active player. It’s kind of surprising to see that Miller is still available in free agency, but he’s getting up there in age, so it’s only “when” he will probably retire in the next few years.
Miller probably won’t get the best contract available, but these four other teams could take a chance on the linebacker if the Giants don’t take advantage.

Potential Destinations
Baltimore Ravens
After losing Malik Harrison, the Baltimore Ravens should feel desperate to get any available free agent linebacker. Odafe Oweh has a lot of promise, but he can’t succeed if Trenton Simpson can’t pull it together on the other side of the pass-rush. Kyle Van Noy and Roquan Smith are the best defenders on this roster, but they’re just one dynamic player away from having a complete defense.
Miller might be past his prime, but maybe he’s the last piece to push the Ravens for a Super Bowl.
New Orleans Saints
Meanwhile, the Saints lost Willie Gay this offseason, even though they still have Pete Werner and a potential Carl Granderson who can turn into a potential star. However, Demario Davis is aging and could use someone like Miller to solidify the trenches pass rush. These two might put the Saints back in the right direction, even if they have a terrible offense right now. Miller won’t single-handedly carry this team on his back, but he might have something to revive this defensive roster.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are in the market for a linebacker as well since they’ve let go of Joey Bosa. Perhaps, they could use someone like Miler since head coach Jim Harbaugh wants an old-school defense to win their ballgames. Miller is truly a generational talent who can spark again in Los Angeles and bring at least one season of explosive play in a new duo with Khalil Mack before they both retire.
Dallas Cowboys
However, the Cowboys could use a linebacker themselves, even though they traded one in Kenneth Murray Jr. and signed Jack Sanborn. After losing Demarcus Lawrence, Dallas needs someone to back up DeMarvion Overshown, who is coming back from his brutal injury. Miller could fill the hole and make an impact even as a rotational player.
