PRACTICE NOTES…
Some snippets from various media sources:
- For the third time this summer, the Giants were in full pads.
- With cool temperatures, the Giants were on the field for over two hours.
- For the second day in a row, LT Andrew Thomas was working outside with trainers.
- For the third practice in row, Deonte Banks began practice with the starters at cornerback (Cor’Dale Flott was also absent today).
- For the second practice in a row, Darius Alexander received first-team reps at defensive tackle.
- In 1-on-1 offensive line versus defensive line drills, OLB Abdul Carter gave fits to Jon Runyan, John Michael Schmitz, and Joshua Ezeudu.
- Also in 1-on-1 drills, RT Jermaine Eluemunor and OLB Brian Burns had a pretty good give-and-take battle going. For more detail, see John Schmeelk’s report.
- OLB Abdul Carter continued to flash in team drills, penetrating into the backfield. He had at least one “sack.”
- Outside linebackers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns also had “sacks” during team drills.
- Offensive linemen James Hudson and Jake Kubas were flagged with false starts and temporarily pulled.
- RB Tyrone Tracy broke off a couple of big runs, weaving in and out of traffic with good vision. One would probably have gone for a long touchdown.
- QB Russell Wilson threw a 20-yard deep ball to WR Malik Nabers for an over-the-shoulder touchdown catch against CB Paulson Adebo on 3rd-and-long. Wilson soon after connected with Nabers again for a good gain over the middle.
- CB Deonte Banks caused an incompletion on a deep pass to WR Wan’Dale Robinson.
- Cornerbacks Art Green and Tre Hawkins each broke up passes near the goal line.
- CB Dee Williams intercepted two passes from QB Tommy DeVito, who had a rough day, completing 1-of-10 passes. Williams also broke up two more passes.
- QB Russell Wilson’s final play of the 2-minute drill – a deep pass into the end zone on 4th-and-7 with 10 seconds left – was intercepted by S Tyler Nubin.
- QB Jaxson Dart, who only threw eight passes in practice, completed a deep pass on a corner route to WR Dalen Cambre in the 2-minute drill. This drive stalled, however, with a “sack” by DL/OLB Chauncey Golston.
- In the red zone, QB Russell Wilson threw a pick-6 interception to S Dane Belton.
- Also in the red zone, QB Russell Wilson ran for one touchdown and then threw another touchdown pass to WR Malik Nabers against CB Paulson Adebo.
- QB Russell Wilson almost connected with WR Wan’Dale Robinson for another touchdown, but the official ruled Robinson out-of-bounds.
- On a play where OLB Abdul Carter jumped offsides, QB Jaxson Dart scrambled and found WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a touchdown.
- QB Jameis Winston found WR Zach Pascal for a good gain.
- CB O’Donnell Fortune broke up a couple of passes.
- Inside linebackers Bobby Okereke, Micah McFadden, and Darius Muasau all flashed in run defense.
