The teams will square off on Monday, Oct. 13.
UConn men’s and women’s basketball will take part in an exhibition double-header against Boston College at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday, Oct. 13. It’ll be hosted by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, which announced the event on Wednesday. Tip times and broadcast information will be released at a later date.
This will be the first unofficial game for Geno Auriemma’s squad since winning its 12th national championship last season. It’s also a departure from the Huskies’ recent preseason structure. Over the last few years, they’ve played a secret scrimmage against a regional Division I team and an open exhibition against Division II competition.
Now, UConn will take the court just over three weeks before it opens the season with Louisville in the Armed Forces Classic at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Meanwhile, Dan Hurley and company will begin their quest for a third national title in the last four seasons after falling in the a second round exit to eventual champions Florida this past March. This will be the second straight year that the men’s team plays in an exhibition on Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day after taking on URI in 2024.
UConn and Boston College were both founding members of the original Big East back in 1979 and remained conference foes until 2005, when the Eagles bolted for the ACC.
The women’s team owns a 37-14 mark all-time against BC, though the sides haven’t met since Nov. 17, 2005. Last season, the Eagles finished 16-18 overall (6-12 ACC) and lost to Villanova in the first round of the WBIT. They haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2006 and have just seven appearances all-time.
The men also sport a winning record over BC at 55-35 all-time. They last faced off in the 2013 2k Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden, where the Huskies earned a 72-70 victory thanks to a pair of late free throws from Ryan Boatright. Since then, UConn has won three national championships and the Eagles have recorded two winning seasons. BC went 12-19 (4-12 ACC) and missed the conference tournament last year.
Tickets will go on sale online on Aug. 1 and at the Mohegan Sun Arena box office the next day.
