UConn football OT Chase Lundt drafted in sixth round by Buffalo Bills

Lundt will join former teammate Ryan Van Demark in Buffalo.

UConn football has produced yet another NFL draft pick on the offensive line. The Buffalo Bills selected offensive tackle Chase Lundt with the 206th overall pick in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft. Lundt, who was anchor on the Huskies’ offensive line during all four seasons in Storrs, will join former teammate Ryan Van Demark in the Bills’ position room.

Lundt was ranked as the 19th-best offensive tackle in the draft class according to PFF, and the Reese’s Senior Bowl Invitee started nearly 50 games during his UConn career. His selection makes it two-straight years UConn has had a player taken in the NFL Draft after Christian Haynes was taken in the third round last year. Since 2020, the Huskies have had four NFL Draft picks and three of them (Matt Peart, Haynes and Lundt) have come from the offensive line.

The Arlington, Texas native fell down draft boards due to his slightly older age and lack of premium arm length, but Lundt has the speed and footwork to be an effective lineman at the professional level. The work ethic is there too — Lundt came to UConn as a two-star recruit per 247Sports, immediately entrenched himself on the line from day one and was a key factor in the Huskies’ nine-win season this year. He will be in the mix with Van Demark to help protect Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

While Lundt was the only Husky to hear his name called in the draft, he wasn’t the only UConn player to earn a shot at the next level. Cornerback Malik Dixon-Williams and fellow lineman Valentin Senn each signed deals as undrafted free agents after the draft ended on Sunday.
