Walker played nine games with the Terps in 2024
The UConn football team has loaded up once more on offensive line depth, gaining the commitment of former Maryland Terrapin Tamarus Walker out of the transfer portal.
Walker stands 6-foot-4, weighing in at 310 pounds. He specializes on the interior of the offensive line, having spent time as both a center and guard. He spent two seasons with Maryland, redshirting after his freshman campaign and playing nine games in 2024. A former three-star recruit, he joins UConn two years after the Huskies offered the lineman out of high school with three years of eligibility remaining.
Walker garnered interest from all over the country prior to his collegiate career, receiving offers from JMU, Liberty, Marshall and more than 10 other schools. Walker entered the portal the day the spring transfer window opened on April 16 and picked UConn over Coastal Carolina, New Mexico State and Arkansas State, among schools.
The Baltimore, Maryland native is the third offensive lineman the Huskies have picked up out of the portal. Walker joins Hayden Bozich of Brown and Ty Chan of Notre Dame, further strengthening UConn’s depth at the position.
The spring transfer window will close Friday, April 25, giving head coach Jim Mora two final days to round out his roster.
