The transfer from Michigan visited the Huskies last weekend.
Former Michigan big man Tarris Reed Jr. has announced that he will be transferring to UConn, according to his Twitter account. Reed, a former four-star recruit who spent the last two seasons with the Wolverines, stands at 6-foot-10 and averaged 9.0 points and 7.2 rebounds last season.
Reed visited the Huskies this past weekend, as Dan Hurley and the team celebrated back-to-back national titles with the victory parade in downtown Hartford. Reed also received interest from other Big East schools such as Georgetown and Providence along with Arkansas, Kansas State, Oregon and others schools.

Reed started all but one game for Michigan last season and posted three double-doubles on the season. He scored a career-high 20 points and added five rebounds in a Jan. 18 win over No. 14 Illinois. Reed ranked in the top 10 in the Big 10 in block percentage (5.2 percent, 1.4 per game) along with offensive and defensive rebounding rate.
With Reed locked in, the Branson, Missouri big man will likely come off the bench this season to spell Samson Johnson, assuming Johnson returns. Reed’s bigger frame and more traditional post game will provide a similar contrast in big men to what the Huskies were able to do this season with Donovan Clingan starting and Johnson coming off the bench.

UConn’s gone portaling and they caught a big one.
Tarris Reed, Jr. played two seasons for Michigan and averaged 9.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game this past season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
