The Huskies and Cougars will square off in Beantown in November, marking the second game ever between the two programs.
Another piece of the UConn men’s basketball team’s non-conference slate has been revealed, with the Huskies set to take on BYU at TD Garden in November, as reported Tuesday by Jon Rothstein.
It will be a preview of of what is expected to be two of the nation’s top programs, as UConn hunts for its seventh national championship, while BYU continues to search for its first. In December 2024, BYU gained the commitment of AJ Dybantsa, the top-rated high school prospect of the 2025 recruiting class. In Rothstein’s top 45 teams for next season, BYU sits at No. 7 while UConn ranks one below at No. 8.
Outside of Big East play, BYU joins the field of four other known opponents for next season. Dan Hurley and his team expect to open their season alongside the women’s team against the Boston College Eagles on October 13. The games are part of an exhibition double-header at Mohegan Sun, hosted by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
UConn will also take on Arizona on November 19 in the first year of a home-and-home series between the two programs. On December 9, the Huskies will play Florida at Madison Square Garden as part of the Jimmy V Classic. Three days later, UConn will host Texas in the latter-half of a home-and-home series after the Huskies won the opener last season.
This will be the second time UConn and BYU square off, with the first matchup dating back to the 2003 NCAA Tournament, when No. 5 UConn knocked off No. 12 BYU in the opening round 58-53. The Huskies advanced as far as the Elite Eight that year before they were knocked off by Texas.
