Amid a career year, Williams earned an All-Star nod for the first time.
Seven years into her WNBA career, Gabby Williams earned an All-Star nod for the first time after being selected as a reserve on Sunday. She’s the fourth Husky to be named an All-Star, joining starters Paige Bueckers, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
In her first full year back in the league since 2022, Williams is averaging career-highs in points (13.4), defensive rebounds (4.1), assists (4.7), steals (2.6), 3-point percentage (35.2) and minutes (33.5). She’s currently the WNBA leader in steals, too.
Williams has benefitted from her time overseas. She transformed into a go-to player and helped her respective teams win the 2025 Turkish league championship, the 2024 FIBA Europe SuperCup, the 2023 EuroCup, the 2023 French league title and the 2022 EuroLeague. Williams also starred for France at the 2024 Paris Olympics and led the home side to a silver medal.
While All-Star starters are picked by a combined vote of fans, players and media, the reserves are selected by the league’s 13 head coaches. They picked three guards, five frontcourt players and four additional players regardless of position, though they couldn’t vote for their own players.
With Williams in the mix, UConn’s four representatives at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game is most of any school, beating out Notre Dame and South Carolina (three each). She’s the 13th Husky all-time to earn All-Star status.
The festivities will take place on Saturday, July 19 in Indianapolis. The teams will be selected by captains Caitlin Clark and Collier on Tuesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. ET.
