Juhász will prioritize rest and recovery after playing non-stop since her final season at UConn.
Dorka Juhász will sit out the 2025 WNBA season to focus rest and recovery, the Minnesota Lynx announced on Sunday. Since her final year at UConn in 2022-23, she’s been playing year-round in both the WNBA and overseas.
A native of Pecs, Hungary, Juhász was taken in the second round (16th overall) by the Lynx in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Over her first two seasons, she established herself as a solid role player, averaging 5.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 72 games. Currently, she’s playing in Italy’s Serie A finals with Familia Schio.
Juhász transferred to UConn in 2021 after spending the previous three seasons at Ohio State. Her first year in Storrs was marred by injury — first, she dealt with nagging issues throughout the campaign before a fractured and dislocated left wrist in the 2022 Elite Eight ended her season. Juhász returned to the Huskies in 2022-23 and put together a strong year, averaging 14.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists to earn a spot on the All-Big East Second Team.
While the Minnesota Lynx began the preseason with four former UConn players in the mix — Juhász, Napheesa Collier, Aubrey Griffin and Christyn Williams — only Collier will actually make the initial final roster. Juhász will sit out the season, Griffin underwent arthroscopic knee surgery while Williams was cut.
Bria Hartley returns to Connecticut
After last appearing in the WNBA in 2022, Bria Hartley is back after signing a training camp deal with the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. She has been out of the league since 2022, when she tore her ACL while playing with the Sun. Hartley did sign a training camp contract with the Las Vegas Aces last season but didn’t make the final roster.
The seventh overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, she’s played for five teams over her nine seasons in the league.
