The UConn men’s basketball team gained the commitment of three-star recruit Jacob Ross on Thursday, younger brother of junior Jayden Ross.
Jacob, a 6-foot-5 forward, was a three-star recruit coming out of SoCal Academy in Los Angeles. He signed with the University of Minnesota in October 2024 before requesting his release from the school in late March of this year. Ross made an official visit to UConn this past week and made his commitment official Thursday.
Alongside Minnesota, Ross had offers from Old Dominion, Albany and Coastal Carolina, among others coming out of high school. The addition of Ross brings the Huskies’ incoming freshmen class back to four, after five-star recruit Darius Adams flipped from UConn to Maryland. Jacob Furphy, Braylon Mullins and Eric Reibe are the other three incoming freshmen.
This is the first roster move head coach Dan Hurley and the Husky staff have made since Alex Karaban announced his decision to return to the program for his fourth season in late April. Ross makes 11 scholarship spots filled on the team, leaving four additional openings if the staff chooses to use them.
