UConn has managed to reel in the No. 2 recruit in Connecticut.

UConn football is filling out its 2022 recruiting class at a rapid rate, and the Huskies are getting quality in addition to quantity. They’ve nabbed three-star recruits from as far as Texas and Florida, but their latest hails from Connecticut, as Bristol Central High’s Victor Rosa announced his commitment to UConn on Wednesday.

Rosa is the no. 2-ranked prospect in the state of Connecticut and the highest-ranked in-state recruit to join the Huskies since Tim Boyle in 2013.

“The coaching staff and I (Corey Edsall) specifically have built a strong relationship over the past year, and overall I wanted to stay home and make the biggest impact possible,” Rosa told the Bristol Press. The name, image and likeness opportunity presented by being a Connecticut player at UConn also reportedly played a role in his decision.

Rosa is rated a three-star recruit by 247 Sports. He held offers from Boston College, Army, and Air Force. The 5-foot-11 senior started for three years at Bristol Central as a dual-threat quarterback but was recruited to play wide receiver at UConn. He’s projected as a rapid option in the slot, a high school track star with good football sense.

In addition to football and track, Rosa played basketball at Bristol Central alongside Donovan Clingan, the latest UConn basketball recruit for the class of 2022. In fact, they’ve been friends “since we were babies.”

“We’ve been talking about that in the back of our heads,” Rosa told the Hartford Courant. “Both of us know we’ve got long-term goals, and the decision of going to the same college together was not a factor. It is amazing to go to the same place, though.”

Rosa is the Huskies’ 14th commitment for the class of 2022, and the fourth wide receiver, with around 10 slots still left to fill. Rivals now has UConn’s class ranked no. 59 in the nation. If they can get ten more recruits as passionate about UConn as Rosa, it would be a great start.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment all my childhood growing up, and I want to go to the next level where I see myself seeing the field and doing what I do to help my team and I succeed,” Rosa said.
