Syracuse women’s lacrosse (14-5, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) has stayed at No. 3 in the Week 13 Inside Lacrosse Poll. The Orange didn’t play a game this past week but remained in the position while other teams outside the ACC participated in their respective conference tournaments.
In the previous week, SU rose from No. 4 to No. 3 following two dominant wins over Louisville and Virginia and a loss in the ACC Championship to Boston College.
With the regular season and conference tournament behind them, the Orange now enter the NCAA Tournament. As announced on ESPN’s selection show Sunday night, Syracuse earned the No. 3 overall seed in the tournament, clinching it a first-round bye.
Following the bye, SU will host the winner of No. 14 Stony Brook against Niagara. Other teams in Syracuse’s bracket include No. 6 Yale, No. 11 Johns Hopkins and No. 25 Fairfield. If the Orange were to advance to the Final Four, they would likely face off with No. 2 Boston College, who they lost to in the regular season finale on April 18 and in the ACC Championship game on April 28.
Syracuse’s quest for its first national championship begins Sunday, May 12 at SU Soccer Stadium where it will host either Stony Brook or Niagara.
