Syracuse plays many of the ACC’s finest in the 2025 season.

The Syracuse Orange men’s soccer team has just released its schedule for the upcoming 2025 season, and it seems to be a difficult slate for a team coming off a down year.

The 2025 schedule features many high-profile ACC matchups, including home matches against Stanford and SMU, a Sweet 16 and a Quarterfinalist side, respectively. This also includes an away match at Pittsburgh, which went into the 2024 tournament as the two seed, before being upset by the eventual champions, Vermont.

The slate also includes some more interesting out-of-conference matchups for the Orange. On August 28th, they host Penn State, who went 5-9-2 last season, and only won one match on the road. The only non-conference game they play against a 2024 tournament team is Cornell, which made the second round of the 2024 tournament. Some other highlights of the non-conference schedule include away trips to Baltimore to play Loyola and New Haven to play Yale, as well as home tests against UConn and Duquesne. The Orange will also welcome New Haven in one of their first matches as a D1 school.

In terms of the schedule layout, a lot of the major tests seem to come late in the season, as the last five games of the Syracuse season leading into the ACC Championship all come against tournament teams. In the span of 20 days, they play SMU, Pitt, Cornell, UNC, and NC State. If this season goes well for the Orange, this stretch of games will be a serious gut check leading up to the tournament.

The team is coming off a down year where they missed the tournament for the first time since their College Cup victory in 2022, so this season will be a serious test of their ability to bounce back following that disappointing campaign. This difficult schedule will make that harder to achieve, but could end up being a positive if the Orange can turn some heads this season.
