Cornell and Colgate are off the schedule
Georgetown isn’t the only rivalry that the Syracuse Orange won’t be playing in 2025-26, as the Orange will not face two longtime local foes.
Multiple sources confirmed to NunesMagician that Syracuse’s yearly series’ with Cornell and Colgate have been put on hold, and will not be contested this upcoming season.
Syracuse has played Colgate 176 times since the initial meeting in 1902, including every non-COVID season since 1993-94. The Orange won every game contested by the two from 1963 until November 2021, when Colgate won two in a row. The Raiders also held a 25-point lead in 2023-24 before Syracuse came back to win, and then had a chance to defeat SU on the final possession last year.

The Orange have faced the Big Red 129 times, winning 98 of them, including a whopping 44 in a row. The Cornell program peaked with an appearance in the Sweet 16 in 2010, but Syracuse beat that team, and every one since. Although under Brian Earl, and now Jon Jacques, Cornell has re-established itself as a yearly threat in the Ivy League.
The only buy games known on Syracuse’s home slate at the moment are against Mercyhurst and Binghamton, with the ACC/SEC Challenge against Tennessee also scheduled.
The Orange take on Saint Joseph’s in Las Vegas before the Players Era Festival, where they will face Kansas, Houston, and one other marquee opponent.
As the ACC schedule dropping to 18 games, Syracuse needs two more non-conference games than it otherwise would. It needs to find two new opponents now that Cornell and Colgate won’t be coming to the Dome. Syracuse declined to comment on specific matchups for next season until they have approved contracts.
