Plenty of choices on the table.
Plenty of Syracuse Orange fans and fanbases from the rest of the college football world have likely downloaded and started to play the new College Football 26 game.
Presentation and game atmosphere are big focal points EA Sports prioritized, and that of course includes the songs each team walks out to. New additions this year include “Enter Sandman” for Virginia Tech, “Shipping up to Boston” for Boston College and “Seven Nation Army.”
With the game’s release, there’s been some social media posts about Syracuse football and specifically whether the Orange should have their own signature song for the players to walk out to.
To come up with some nominations, we sent out the #NunesMagicianSignal to get thoughts from the staff:
Should the Orange keep the walk out as constructed now?
Dom: I’m a personal fan of keeping the marching band performing as fans are entering the Dome. Also, the band could still perform “Down the Field” (my suggestion: right before or after the National Anthem). That all said, I want ‘Cuse to have a walk out song.
Calvin: I like the way that the walkout is now, I think it works in its simplicity, and it’s able to get the crowd hyped even without a walkout song. However, they definitely could still benefit from having one.
Kevin: I want there to be more marching band during games, but I think a hype video and song that leads to the team at the edge of the tunnel works best to set the tone. I’d go National Anthem, band playing “Down the Field”, lights in the Dome turn to Orange and the video rolls.
What’s your pick for the walk out song you want to see Syracuse pick?
Dom: I’ve got three options on the table, each of which is a different genre. I’m also trying to prioritize songs that are not signature songs at another school (example: “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC at Alabama). My top-two on the board: “Panama” by Van Halen and “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival (would prefer the latter of these for non-night games). Distant third pick: “We Dem Boyz” by Wiz Khalifa.
Calvin: For my top pick, I think we could lean into being New York’s only FBS College Football team, and go for a song like “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. As more of a surprising pick, I could also see the fan base rallying behind “In and Out” by Lud Foe, due to this viral video of Kyle McCord from last season.
Kevin: This song isn’t for the fans. It should be for the players and I think if you want to remind players that Fran Brown isn’t your typical Head Coach then you go with some contemporary rap and why not go with a hometown artist Stove God Cooks? If you can get a Cooks/Westside Gunn collaboration you can create something unique, as well as relevant to the Cuse.
