2nd NJ recruit in the class
The Syracuse Orange don’t stop recruiting just because it’s Father’s Day. Yesterday the Orange landed a verbal commitment from 2026 linebacker Gemaus Sackie.
The 6’1” 210 lb. linebacker from Burlington, NJ became the 17th commitment in the 2026 class which now ranks 27th in the country by 247. Sackie is rated three stars, and 21st in his class in NJ, by 247. He chose the Orange over offers from Temple, Stony Brook and Maine.
Sackie is ranked the 80th best linebacker in the nation by 247 so the offer list doesn’t really match up to that ranking. He was also part of the 4x100m relay squad that set a New Jersey state record, so this could be the case of the Orange getting a player right before they blow up in summer camps.
Grateful to God, my family, and everyone who’s supported me. After careful thought, I’m blessed to announce my commitment to Syracuse University! #Committed #cusenation #OrangeNation @CoachMarc23 @CoachEvBT @Coach_RWright @FranBrownCuse @CuseFootball @SyracuseOn247 @coachtmr2 pic.twitter.com/eDvT8AKnIW

Sackie was just offered by Syracuse last week while visiting and committed. According to his social media, Gemaus had 70 tackles in ten games last season for an 8-2 Burlington Township squad. He also was credited with seven sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and an interception.
