Start planning now
The Syracuse Orange football team will open the 2025 season with a National Television game against the Tennessee Volunteers in Atlanta.
SEC/ACC opening weekend kickoff/broadcasts
Aug 30, Saturday
Syracuse-Tennessee (Atlanta), noon ET ABC
Alabama at Florida State, 3:30 pm ABC
LSU at Clemson, 7:30 pm ABCAug 31, Sunday
South Carolina-Virginia Tech (Atlanta), 3 pm ESPN— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) May 13, 2025
It’s going to be a big weekend for the media narrative around the ACC and the Orange will get the first crack at a major non-conference win. Syracuse is 0-3* against the Volunteers with the last game played back in 2001 when the Orange lost 33-9 in Knoxville.
(*- this includes the 1998 game which was stolen from the Orange with a late PI call saving Tennessee’s eventual National Title)
Not only will the schools battle for claim of the “One True Orange”, they will also be competing for The Old Leather Helmet Trophy. You know we want to see how Fran Brown looks with this on…..we can guarantee it’ll be 44x cooler than Dabo

Tickets for the Aflac Kickoff in Atlanta are still available by going here. So far this is what the 2025 Syracuse schedule looks like. The Friday night games will likely have a kick-off time of 7 or 7:30 and the UNC game will be get a national broadcast as long as Mr. Hoodie Hudson is still leading the Tar Heels on Halloween.
