Reinforcements in the trenches again
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Naquil Betrand
Position: Offensive Line
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 320 lbs.
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
High School/Previous College: Northeast/Texas A&M/Alabama
2024 stats (Alabama): Only played in Alabama’s season opener last year.
2025 projections: Betrand’s size and previous collegiate stops makes him a candidate to feature among the starters on the offensive line. Reports indicated that he was a backup tackle during spring practice. Perhaps an offeseason could vault Betrand into the starting lineup conversation.
How’d he get here?: Syracuse offered Betrand out of high school. He had the Orange among his top six with Georgia, Auburn, Kentucky and Penn State before he committed to Texas A&M. Syracuse was reportedly also interested in Betrand when he first entered the portal from Texas A&M last season.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Out of the portal, a three-star target. Also a consensus three-star recruit out of high school, with all recruiting sites considering him a top-25 player in the state.
Winners Get Washed: Dial for Men Recharge 3 in 1 Revitalizing Body Wash – Betrand’s hoping that Syracuse can be the spot to recharge and revitalize his collegiate career.

Interesting nugget o’interest: It should come as no surprise that Elijah Robinson was one of the primary recruiters during Betrand’s high school recruitment.
