Free throws matter. So do long snappers.
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Ted Olsen
Position: Offensive Line
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 271 lbs.
Hometown: Palos Verdes Estates, CA
High School/Previous College: Palos Verdes/IMG Academy
2024 stats: N/A — appeared in zero games.
2025 projections: Olsen notably brings high school experience playing on both the offensive line and as a long snapper. He’s way likely to be more used in the latter role than the former.
How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange in April 2023 as a PWO over an offer from Elon.
What’d recruiting sites say?: N/A on all of the major sites, but he was listed as a three-star long snapper by Rubio Long Snapping — which has a good reputation for developing long snappers.
Winners Get Washed: Dial – just like long snapping and special teams, Syracuse fans need it to have it be “easy to stay clean and healthy.”

Interesting nugget o’interest: Olsen joins a notable list of recognizable sports names who are alumni of Palos Verdes, including Bill Laimbeer and Pete Sampras.
