Another key contributor returns for a final season in the secondary
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Next up is…
Name: Devin Grant
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Senior
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 199 lbs.
Hometown: Elmont, New York
High School/Previous College: Holy Cross HS/Buffalo
2024 stats: Grant appeared in 12 games and started 10. He recorded 56 tackles (eight for a loss), one interception, one fumble recovery (returned for touchdown), three forced fumbles and three pass breakups.
2025 projections: After a strong showing in his first year with the Orange, Grant should be a lock for the other starting safety position alongside Duce Chestnut.
How’d he get here?: Transferred to the Orange following the 2023 season after two years at Buffalo.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Rated three stars in the transfer portal. Out of high school, Grant received four stars and was the No. 2-ranked New York prospect by 247Sports.
Winners Get Washed: Old Spice Captain Body Wash — Grant stole the show and was everyone’s favorite captain after his scoop-and-score in the regular season finale against Miami.
