Last year Bronny James was the scion of an NBA legend trying to be an impact player in college. Next year it’s likely to be Kiyan Anthony – the son of Carmelo Anthony.
The 2025 shooting guard has yet to commit to any schools ahead of the 2025-26 college basketball season, but to he announced that he has narrowed his list down to three basketball powerhouses: Syracuse (his father’s alma mater), Auburn and USC.
Of the three, only Auburn hasn’t given him a scholarship offer yet. But Anthony told On3 Sports that he has friends who currently play there.
Anthony’s father was one of the greatest Syracuse basketball players of all-time and he told On3 that the school is recruiting him “hard.”
As for USC, Anthony said that coaches Eric Musselman and Quincy Poindexter have both shown him “a lot of love” through his conversations with them.

247Sports rates Anthony as a four-star prospect and the No. 34 player in the Class of 2025. He is the No. 6 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 1 prospect from the state of New York.
Time will tell if Anthony has what it takes to be a college hoops star like his father, let alone an NBA star like Carmelo also was.
But all three programs would probably love to have a four-star prospect who ranks as highly as he does, regardless of his last name.
