The Red Storm are still not done making history this week after winning their first Big East outright regular season title in 40 years with a win over Seton Hall on Saturday.
St. John’s stepped up one spot to No. 6 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Monday afternoon, their best ranking since January 28, 1991, when they were ranked fifth in the country for one week.
With a 71-61 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon, the St. John’s men’s basketball team also recorded their most wins in a single season since the 1998-99 season in which the Red Storm went 28-9 and finished in the NCAA tournament Elite Eight. The Red Storm also built on their program record for most conference wins in a single season with 17.
The No. 6 St. John’s Red Storm (26-4, 17-2 Big East) conclude their Big East regular season with a road trip to Milwaukee to face the No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles (22-7, 13-5 Big East) on Saturday, March 8 (noon, FOX). On Saturday night, the Golden Eagles crushed Georgetown in a 76-61 win in Washington, D.C.
