College hoops news: Former Tennessee C Handje Tamba is committing to St. John’s, per sources.
One of the top-rated players in the portal, the 6-11 Congo-born Tamba is a huge get for Rick Pitino. He had significant interest from North Carolina as well, among others. pic.twitter.com/3nvCYYbvmF

The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 10.5 points and 8.9 rebounds along with 1.7 blocks last season for Milligan (TN) College.
Before that he spent two years at Weber State from 2022-24 posting negligible stats. At St. John’s he will be a backup big man behind Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins.
St. John’s has the No. 1 transfer portal in the nation with Hopkins, Joson Sanon, Ian Jackson, Oziyah Sellers, Dylan Darling and Dillon Mitchell. Sanon has declared for the NBA Draft, but is expected to play for St. John’s next season.
