NEW HAVEN, Conn. — An extravagant vertical athlete with a ferocious open0court finishing aptitude, The Knox School (NY) Class of 2026 Diing Mawien displayed a delicate outside touch and versatility during the Prep National Showcase at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn., during this weekend’s Prep National Showcase.
Mawien scored 13 points, sticking 3-for-9 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed five boards during The Knox School’s 76-72 loss to Newman School (MA) on Sunday night.
Newman was led by 17 points and seven boards by Chase Geremia.
Michigan signee Quinn Costello and Louis O’Keefe each added 15 points to pace Newman.
A lob-finisher with a Pterodactyl-like wingspan, defensive versatility, and an instinctive feel for the game, Maiwen holds offers from Manhattan and Tennessee State.
Monmouth is now expressing interest in the post graduate.
“Diing is a high major athlete with great upside as a wing player,” Knox School head coach Jared Grasso said.
“He is a consistent 3-point shooter and attacks close outs. His stock has started to rise. His best basketball is ahead of him.”
The Knox School’s roster has been almost entirely cleansed from last season, when they registered an overall record of 34-5.
Kam Salters led the way for Knox School with a game-best 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-4 from 3-point territory.
The aforementioned O’Keefe doled out a game-best eight assists and pulled down seven rebounds.
