Nuggets' Bruce Brown says that the Nets limited what he could do

Denver Nuggets guard (and former Brooklyn Net) Bruce Brown said that he’s been prevented from showing that he could be a guard in the NBA by Brooklyn and by extension, the entire league according to an interview he did with Mike Singer of the Denver Post. Brown was asked how his first season with the Nuggets has gone thus far and he gave his honest opinion.

Brown was with the Nets for two seasons (2020-2022) and in that time, he played well as the team’s Swiss army knife at forward. In his Nets tenure, Brown averaged 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 52.9% from the field.

Brown explains why he feels that the Nets did not show Brown the respect that he deserved:

“Yeah, people just don’t care what I do. I can play extremely well, I averaged, what, 15 in the playoffs. … They don’t care because I was playing with two superstars, so, it makes no sense. I was (hurt), but once I’d seen the Royce O’Neale trade, I was like, ‘I’m off their books, for sure.’ Because at first, they were talking about, they didn’t want to go into the tax or whatever, but then they said that I was a priority. They wanted me back. They came down to see me in Miami when I was working out. And when I didn’t receive a phone call, I was like ‘all right’.”
