Sean Marks, the current general manager of the Brooklyn Nets, has plenty of ties with the San Antonio Spurs. But will that be enough for him to pull off a trade and get the Number 2 pick? Rumors are heating up that the Brooklyn Nets are interested in getting Dylan Harper. But will they be able to get him?
Nets, Spurs Talk Trade: Is a Game-Changing Move Coming
According to the latest reports, the Nets are preparing a package of picks to send to the Spurs and draft Harper as their franchise point guard. Multiple organizations within the NBA are keeping track of the movement. But is that trade realistic?
Dylan Harper to Brooklyn!?

The question is whether the Spurs want quantity over quality. Right now, the Spurs control the No.2 and the No.14 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. The Nets, on the other hand, have the Nos. 8, 19, 26, 27, and 36 at their disposal. They can also send some of their young players to help the Spurs contend for a title. For example, a trade could involve Cam Johnson, a player that the Spurs can use alongside their core of De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama. In any case, the Nets and the Spurs will be some of the more active teams looking to make a trade.
Are the Nets Rebuilding or Chasing a Star
There have been different rumors coming out from the Nets camp. Some insiders believe they will try to get a star to Brooklyn this summer. Whether that will be Giannis Antetokounmpo or some other player, we have to wait and see. They have plenty of draft assets to make a trade, and they also have cap space to sign players.
The new rumor, suggesting they want Harper, might mean that they will go through a slow rebuild. Maybe they have come to terms with the fact that they are not a high bidder in the Giannis sweepstakes. Teams like the Spurs, Houston Rockets, and even the Philadelphia 76ers can offer better-quality picks.
Spurs Getting More Assets to Chase Giannis

The trade between the Nets and Spurs has the potential to turn into a three-team deal with Giannis going to San Antonio. The question is, do the Bucks value quality or quantity? Sending the No.2 pick to Brooklyn will give the Spurs even more assets to reroute to Milwaukee. Yet, at the same time, it is hard to imagine that Milwaukee wouldn’t want Harper over two or three late lottery picks.
What the Nets have in their arsenal is the ability to send picks from other teams, namely the New York Knicks. Brooklyn controls New York’s picks in 2027, 29, and 31. They also have a top 8 protected from the Sixers coming in 2027. Whatever ends up happening, things will heat up leading up to draft night. There is still plenty of time until the draft begins on June 25th. One thing is certain: the Nets lack a true franchise point guard and floor general. Whether they get him via draft or free agency, time will tell.
