The Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks hooked up for a huge blockbuster trade on Tuesday night as the Nets sent Mikal Bridges across the bridge to Manhattan to join the Knicks. The Nets acquired former Brooklyn forward Bojan Bogdanovic and five first-round picks as Brooklyn now begins to move forward on a rebuild.
Bridges now joins a Knicks team that has their eyes on contending for a title and will reunite him with Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo. The foursome won a title in 2016 together and Bridges won a title in 2018 with Brunson and DiVincenzo while Hart went on to the league.
In 1.5 seasons with the Nets, Bridges averaged 21.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He shot 44.7% from the floor and 37.3% from deep.
