Michael Porter Jr. is turning in a career-year for the Brooklyn Nets. That has Brooklyn looking to sell high on Porter ahead of next month’s trade deadline. It’s gone so far that at least one league source considers it a “lock” that the Nets trade Porter.
The eighth-year forward is averaging 25.9 points per game, which is nearly seven points better than Porter’s previous high of 19 points per game. They aren’t empty stats either, as Porter is shooting 49% from the field, including 39.7% on a career-high 9.4 three-point attempts per game.
Some have suggested that Porter’s strong play has caused the Nets, who enter play on Sunday at 11-24, to win more than they would like. The 2026 NBA Draft is the last time the Nets have control of their own first-round pick until 2028. With a particularly strong class in 2026, Brooklyn would prefer to pick as high in the draft as possible. As it stands today, the Nets would enter the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery with the fifth-best odds.
