Ben Simmons wanted nothing to do with Sixers fans ahead of his return to Philly on Thursday night. He even snuck out of the team hotel to get onto the bus to avoid those diehard Philly fans itching at the opportunity to boo him.
“Ben Simmons sneaking out of hotel trying to avoid heckling fans,” tweeted Chris O’Connell of FOX 29 Philadelphia.

This won’t be the last time Ben Simmons hears from Sixers fans today. He’s expected to be greeted with a hostile environment in Philly. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Simmons, however, won’t be suiting up tonight. He has yet to make his Brooklyn Nets debut. Steve Nash isn’t concerned about his new forward and the treatment he’ll be getting this evening.
“He’s a big boy, he’ll be fine and he’s excited to join our team,” Nash said, via the New York Post. “He wants to be there on the bench with his teammates.”
Several other star Nets players have experienced this before. Kevin Durant did after he left Oklahoma City for Golden State. Same with Kyrie Irving, who left Cleveland for the Nets after winning a championship for the Cavaliers.
The Nets take on the Sixers in Philly tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on TNT.
