We’ll be monitoring the Brooklyn side of things on NetsDaily, but here’s a safe space for hoops talk as free agency begins.
The remnants of the 2024-25 Brooklyn Nets season is now a thing of the past. The losing, Draft Lottery, and five picks from the NBA Draft. Now, we all get to look forward without hesitation.
In the early goings of Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Ziaire Williams is expected to sign a two-year, $12 million deal to return to the Nets. Williams averaged 10 points and 4.3 rebounds in 63 games. The second year is a team option, Shams noted in a follow-up.

Sure, this isn’t 2019 when the entire NBA world was shocked with news about Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving — “the clean sweep” — deciding to join the Nets. It’s quite the opposite actually. The Nets will be prioritizing its rookies and other homegrown talent, specifically RFA Cam Thomas and now UFA Day’Ron Sharpe.
Otherwise, expect some facilitating to absorb contracts and more picks. ESPN reported that “no one would be surprised” if Cam Johnson is moved in the coming weeks. Insiders added some names who Brooklyn might be interested in.
The Nets possess more cap room than any NBA team, so expect them to engage with the more coveted restricted free agents on the market, such as 22-year-old Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga and 25-year-old Quentin Grimes from Philadelphia. (Brooklyn also will aim to bring back its own restricted free agent in 23-year-old Cam Thomas, who led the team in scoring at 24 points per game.)
Free agency begins 6 PM ET on Monday. Brooklyn will hold a press conference for its rookies on Tuesday. Then, Summer League begins on July 10.
Until then, enjoy the NBA fireworks!
