The Brooklyn Nets entered the 2021-22 season as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, and yet, they were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics.
So, should Steve Nash be on the hot seat? Nets star Kevin Durant certainly doesn’t think so.
Following the Nets’ loss to the Celtics on Monday night, Durant gave Nash a vote of confidence.
“I mean, come on now. Yeah,” Durant said, via SNY. “Steve’s been dealt a crazy hand the last two years. He’s had to deal with so much stuff as a head coach, a first-time coach: trades, injuries, COVID. It’s just a lot of stuff he’s had to deal with and I’m proud of how he’s focused and his passion for us. We all continue to keep developing over the summer and see what happens.”

In two seasons as the head coach of the Nets, Nash owns a 92-62 record.
Obviously, Nash wants to return to Brooklyn for another season.
“I loved doing this and love these guys, love my staff, love all the departments,” Nash told reporters. “Really have a great working environment, really enjoyed it and want to continue doing it.”
Durant’s endorsement might be enough to keep Nash around for at least the start of the 2022-23 season. Make no mistake though, the Nets will face an immense amount of pressure next year regardless of who’s coaching the team.
