Kevin Durant glad Nets were ‘able to play a fourth quarter game’ after win over Hawks

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant knows that his team has had a favorable schedule this fair in the season. After Wednesday’s 108-107 win over the Atlanta Hawks, in which Durant scored 26 points, the Nets have won 10 games in a row and 14 of their last 15 games.

Brooklyn started this game slow as they allowed Atlanta to take control of the game in the early going. The Hawks, without Trae Young, Clint Capela, and De’Andre Hunter, led by as many as 15 points in this game and they achieved that lead with 4:28 left in the first half after Bogdan Bogdanovic nailed a pull-up three-pointer to give the Hawks the lead, 58-43.

Durant ripped down a season-high 16 rebounds, also the most rebounds he’s had in a game as a Net, and picked up eight assists as well as he started to take advantage of the way that the Hawks were double-teaming him once he dribbled the ball.

Durant spoke with YES Network’s Megan Triplett right after the game ended and gave his take on the key to Brooklyn pulling out the win:

“I think defensively, we was able to be there in the second half. In front of the basketball, rebounding the basketball, was able to get out and run. This team (the Hawks) play faster and harder without their leader (Young). They didn’t have a lot of pressure on them tonight so those shots felt better when they let them go and it’s a fun game. I was glad that we were able to play a fourth-quarter game and understand what we need to do to get a win.”

The Nets are four wins away from tying their franchise-record winning streak of 14 games.
