Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford came to the Nets last offseason on a one-year, $2 million minimum contract following two seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers that saw mixed results from him. For anyone that was familiar with his game during his first two years in the NBA, it was clear that Watford was listed as a power forward, but was more of a tweener between a small forward and a power forward.
To be more specific, while Watford is listed at 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds, a significant portion of his skill set can be described as more of a point forward than a traditional power forward given the way that he’s able to handle the basketball at his size. Granted, Watford had just two seasons of tape coming to Brooklyn so it was still unclear on what he would bring to a Nets team looking for anybody to contribute in any way possible.
Despite being out of the rotation for most of the season due to the presence of players like Ben Simmons, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Dennis Schroder, Watford found a way to get back onto the floor towards the end of the season because of how he was able to contribute in other ways.
