Brooklyn Nets guard Lonnie Walker IV came to the Nets last offseason on a one-year, $2.3 million minimum contract to provide his customary scoring off the bench. It was surprising to see Walker sign with the team for the minimum given that he just came off a season in which he averaged 11.7 points on 44.8% shooting from the field for a Los Angeles Lakers team that made it to the Western Conference Finals.
Be that as it may, Walker became a free-agent and as a result, was one of the players that the Nets signed as a depth piece that could potentially help the team win on the margins. Walker did more than that as he began the season like a player with something to prove and he was playing so well in the first month of the season that there were talks about him possibly being a candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award by the end of the season.
