Charles Barkley calls Nets' Kevin Durant insecure, Durant responds

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has done many great things in his career. Durant was the 2007-2008 NBA Rookie of the Year, the 2013-2014 NBA MVP, and is on the NBA’s 75th anniversary team.

However, all of those accolades, and many more, have not stopped fans and pundits from being critical of Durant, particularly as a leader. There are some who still criticize Durant for leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to join a Golden State Warriors team that had went 73-9 the previous year.

Former NBA player and basketball legend Charles Barkley is one of Durant’s staunchest critics. Barkley had this to say when Taylor Rooks asked him for his opinion of Durant:

“I actually like Kevin. I think that he’s a great player. I think he’s actually a good dude. I think he’s insecure at times. You know, he gets mad when the old guys like myself saying he gotta win a championship away from the Golden State Warriors. And, I know he got offended by that, but that’s not my job to worry about peoples’ feelings.

Taylor, there’s levels to this. You don’t have to react to every fool. When I talk about insecurities, like, yo man, everybody’s opinion don’t matter. You don’t need burner phones. You’re Kevin Durant. You can say whatever the (expletive) you want to. But, you don’t have to react to every single thing.”
