Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson is one of the veteran players remaining on a Nets roster that is bound to get younger as they prioritize player development over winning games. Since Brooklyn traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks on Tuesday in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and as many as five first-round picks, there has been reporting that Johnson could be on the trade block at some point this offseason.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported on Sunday just mere hours before the beginning of free-agency at 6 PM ET that Johnson has drawn trade interest from several teams that are looking for wing depth. Johnson is coming off a 2023-24 season in which he played just 58 games (47 starts), but averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 44.6% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
While his performance this past season was a step down from his play during the 2022-23 campaign (16.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals per game on 46.8/37.2/85.1 shooting splits), Johnson is still a starting-caliber wing in the NBA who can shoot the three-ball well while providing some decent defensive play.
