The Brooklyn Nets have reportedly zeroed in on three finalists to land their open head coaching job.
After moving off of Jacque Vaughn back in February, the Nets promoted assistant Kevin Ollie to be the team’s interim coach.
Now according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Brooklyn has a few names in mind for who it wants to lead the organization moving forward.
Per the NBA insider: former Bucks championship coach Mike Budenholzer, Kings associate Jordi Fernandez and Suns associate Kevin Young have emerged as the most-likely candidates to land the Nets’ full-time gig.
Brooklyn is currently 32-49 and fourth in the Atlantic division behind the Sixers, Knicks and Celtics.
Not too long ago it felt like the Nets were about to be on top of the basketball world with their big three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. However, it didn’t take long for that to combust and now the franchise once again finds itself in a period of transition.
Brooklyn had made the playoffs each of the last five seasons in the East prior to this year. In that time they’ve had five different coaches and nearly landed current Rockets HC Ime Udoka.
