New York is in the driver’s seat and hope to win their third before heading for home.
The New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons meet today at Little Caesars Arena for a pivotal Game Four of the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. New York leads the series 2-1 and has a chance to firmly take control before heading back to Madison Square Garden.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson powered the Knicks to a 118-116 win in Game Three, combining for 61 points. Towns has been a problem for Detroit all series, shooting over 58% from the field.
Cade Cunningham will try to keep the Pistons alive, but Detroit’s youth and sloppiness have shown under pressure. Turnovers, fouls, and missed chances have been the story. They’ll need their cleanest game yet just to survive.
Detroit has missed the bench support of Isaiah Stewart, who has been dealing with a knee issue. He is listed as questionable for today’s affair.
A popular betting site that I checked picked Detroit as a slight favorite at home. Surely, they will come out of the gate with urgency. But the Knicks have handled pressure better so far, and another strong outing from their stars could all but bury the Pistons.
Game 4 is a must-win for Detroit. For the Knicks, it’s a chance to break the series open.
