New York Knicks forward P.J. Tucker took to Instagram to set the record straight about his playing future. In no uncertain terms, Tucker took time out of his summer vacation to make it clear that he’s not retiring.
“Never have (I) mentioned retirement or even given any indication that may be a thing,” Tucker wrote. “I’m 40 years young 100% healthy, able, and will continue playing the game I’ve dedicated my life to… HOOPIN!!!!!!”
The Knicks hold a $3.5 million team option for Tucker for next season. If New York picks that option up, Tucker’s contract will be non-guaranteed until the league-wide guarantee date on January 10. It’s been speculated that the Knicks could pick up Tucker’s option, then guarantee a portion of it to use his deal as salary-matching in a trade.
