The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 to win the NBA Cup on Tuesday night.
Jalen Brunson, who finished with 25 points, was named the tournament MVP.
“During the course of the year, you try to find situations to put pressure on your group,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said after the win. “This is a single-elimination tournament when you get to a certain point. Every game counts. There’s pressure on every game if you expect to be who you think you are.”
OG Anunoby scored 28 points, with Karl-Anthony Towns finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Towns played just 30 minutes due to a calf injury.
The Knicks trailed by 10 points late in the third quarter.
“A game like this, an environment like this, you don’t really see around the NBA too often,” Brunson said. “We got to take advantage of the experience that we got here. I mean, those guys will.”
Dylan Harper lead the Spurs with 21 points. Victor Wembanyama had 18 points in 25 minutes in the loss.
