The New York Knicks filled out their roster for the preseason with a series of moves. The Knicks signed five veterans and one rookie to non-guaranteed, training camp contracts, in addition to filling all three two-way spots.
New York signed veteran guards Malcolm Brogdon and Landry Shamet, as well as veteran center Alex Len, to Exhibit 9 contracts. An Exhibit 9 contract is a non-guaranteed deal that doesn’t count against the cap, tax or aprons unless the player makes the opening night roster.
Veteran forward Matt Ryan and veteran wing Garrison Mathews signed Exhibit 10 deals. An Exhibit 10 deal works like an Exhibit 9 contract, but has an added feature of paying the player an agreed-upon amount if they spend 60 days with the organization’s G League team.
Rookie forward Mohamed Diawara also signed an Exhibit 10 deal. New York also signed Dink Pate and Bryson Warren to Exhibit 10 contracts, but later waived them. Those moves were lined up to get Pate and Warren to the Westchester Knicks of the G League.
To complete their busy signing period, the Knicks signed Tosan Evbuomwan and Trey Jemison III, and re-signed Kevin McCullar, to two-way contracts.
New York now has a full offseason roster of 21 players. The Knicks have only 12 players on standard contracts, meaning they will eventually have to get to 14 players on standard deals. Because of their second-apron hard cap, New York is limited in how they can fill those two spots. That means that there could be more roster moves coming to create additional flexibility.
